Photographs of the splendid leatherwork of Richard Dunton whose website is going live in April 2020.
Richard wanted a set of photographs which placed his hand-made bags and satchels in the landscape of his beloved Yorkshire, so we spent a couple of warm, early Autumn days trekking (with a lot of equipment) through the moors above Hebden Bridge looking for settings which would complement his designs – I prefer to work on location if I can and light to make the set-up look as natural as possible.
The belts were shot in his workshop and lit to reveal the intricate workmanship he puts into every last one of them – it was important to show the texture of the leather in these pictures so we decided to light the set with a single back-light while using mirrors to fill in the detail on the front of the belts.
